Japanese Nostalgic Car Meet Houston 2024
Nov 2, 2024
The car culture isn't dead. The community is there is keep it alive.
Why would some say the car culture is dead?
With the emerging technology and speed of social media, many people are getting into cars for the wrong reasons. Young adults are looking for quick fame, driving recklessly/performing street takeovers, or simply ruining local car meets. But it's about the options on all of this. A lot of the bad gets shined on, and overcast all of the good from the true enthusiast. Those who are connected to the true car scene, they've created a community from long-lasting friends, and a passion for cars.
The community that drives the enthusiast.
We can get lost in our day-to-day jobs. We lose motivation to wrench on the car in the garage. I get it, I've been there. What's nice is to get a refreshing reminder of what the "glory" days were like. Having the JNCM (Japanese Nostalgic Car Meet) yearly gives you that feeling of what going to car meets in the 2000s to 2010s. I have to admit it's nice to still be friends that I met in the car community over 10 years ago, and still active and have a passion for cars. It's great to see classic Japanese cars and with the ever-popular imported cars with the 25-age rule, these meets just get better every year
Nothing can stop our fiery passion.
Some would say the weather was not ideal. Unpredictable weather leads to heavy shows. With the recent daylight savings, the nightfall hit quickly. But honestly, it made everything better. These combinations gave such a feeling and "vibe" that could not be replicated at your local Sunday Morning Cars and Coffee. The principle is the same, we all get together, nerd out about cars, and maybe cruise out together for food. But usually, a rained-out Cars and Coffee will make people cut out early and rush home to park their car. At JNCM, people and cars just kept coming. People didn't care if they got physically wet and sick. They cared about hanging out with good friends and eating good food at Moon Tower Inn. But you know what, you can always wear a rain jacket or bring an umbrella. Sure, these classic Japanese Cars are getting wet and dirty, but they can be cleaned. To some of us, that cleaning process is therapeutic. We form a connection by detailing our machines, oftentimes being proud of the end result from the effort we put in.
