Legends Never Die, and your classic Japanese Car shouldn't either.
What is JDM Legends?
JDM Legends is a company with a passion for classic Japanese cars, seeking to keep these cars memorable with stories to tell for decades on end. JDM has the main focus of importing JDM Cars, offering restoring services, and parts service from originally manufactured produced parts to aftermarket performance
Welcome to the Candy Shop.
Trey Cobb (the founder of COBB Tuning) has the pleasure of giving me and a few others a tour of the new Dallas facility he is opening up. The original JDM Legends is located in Utah, and Trey wanted to also have a location that is central to the United States. This makes logistics for receiving and shipping parts and cars much more centralized to offer the best service for current and future customers. Trey already had a few cars that had been imported well over 10 years ago, including some personal collection of cars that he could not bring himself to sell (he's a big Mazda FD RX-7 fan).
What makes JDM Legends different from other importers?
I've seen the rise of vehicle import businesses since the legalization of the 1990 Nissan R32 GTR Skyline (25-year federal rule of vehicle importation and EPA emissions regulations). We've heard bad stories of places bringing over the worst rusting vehicles, but we also we quality gems with top-notch customer service. While JDM Legends advertised and has the capability of importing vehicles, that is not their main goal for the future. They understand the climate and rising interest in imported vehicles coming to the US, but the biggest issue they see is replacement parts that may be vital to keep your car running. They've been collecting and buying parts for many years, but they are finally seeing the depletion of parts now these cars given another life and are available to a new market. They are now in the business of creating discontinued replacement parts to restore your beloved classic
Trey is currently importing the BEST examples of cars that he can. That means if the Market Price on an NSX-R is over USD 400k, he's doing it with good intentions. Once these near-perfect vehicles arrive, he is documenting what is a common failure, what needs to be repaired, and what are people asking for. He is tearing these cars apart to 3D scan EVERY single part to build a catalog. This will give him the ability to either reproduce the part in-house or outsource to existing manufacturers with OE standards. That means if you've been looking for a rubber window molding for that 70's Mazda Cosmo, JDM Legends will most likely be able to provide you with that part. Isn't that cool?!
